The story of the hike

A wonderful nature hike through the untouched raised bog of Ohepalu. The route winds through a labyrinth of bog pools, along the shore of Lake Ohepalu Suurjärv and back to Õnnela through wild nature.

This is a real bog hike to places that ordinary hiking trails never reach. Along the way open bog views, pools, bog islands and pure silence unfold. Here you can experience nature in its most original form: far from roads, boardwalks and everyday bustle.

The hike suits adventurous walkers who value untouched nature and a genuine bog experience.

Terrain and gear

The route is partly pathless and runs across wet bog terrain. A moderate level of fitness is needed.

  • Waterproof hiking shoes
  • Clothing for the weather
  • Drinking water
